Personal Experience:

I’ve worked two of these sweaters to near completion, just waiting on some buttons I ordered to finish them up, and am currently working on a third. One was the 14/16 boys size. The other two are adult men’s, sizes S and L Tall. I used Kartopu yarn, alpaca polo and elite wool. Both of these were found in a local yarn shop located in Old Town Sarajevo. The company does have their own website as well: http://www.kartopu.com.tr/?lang=en. If one is interested in jumping in to clothing making with their crochet, this is definitely a great pattern to begin with. Men’s clothes can be a challenge to find among crochet clothing patterns, and after much research and several patterns that were to difficult to work up, it was amazing to find this one. My sons love them, and they look great!

Positives:

Easy work up. Utilizes basic hdc, so definitely something that even a beginner could test their skills on. The assembly of the sweater requires sewing only at the shoulders, everything else is completed with your crochet hook. If you have a couple stitches too many when doing the border around the body of the sweater it doesn’t hurt the outlook in any way. Easily adjusted if necessary, ie. for one of mine, the length of the sleeve needed to be greater than the pattern called for. It was super easy to extend it without any assistance.

Negatives:

The sizes do run small, regardless of the measurements provided. So if your man wears a S, I would personally suggest making the M, unless they enjoy a snug fit, which is fine.

Communication:

Due to the ease in following the pattern, I did not need to contact the author of the pattern, Ashley Konecny, so I do not know if the author is prompt or even will answer any questions you may have while working the pattern.
